Hoshi Mame

Hoshi Mame (星 豆) is the “supposedly imaginary friend” of Hibiki Akabane, a strange, hyperactive, cosmic presence who feels like a miniature, astral version of Hibiki herself. She’s barely 30 cm tall. Her personality mirrors Hibiki’s: explosive, loud, theatrical, and full of chaotic energy. But while Hibiki is physical and impulsive, Mame is more dramatic and mystical, speaking as if the universe sends her secret messages. She sees herself as Hibiki’s “cosmic guardian” and constantly gives her ridiculous, overconfident advice that is always wrong but delivered with absolute conviction. To the rest of the group, Mame is supposed to be imaginary… yet strange things happen: percussion sounds with no drummer, a tiny silhouette darting behind the drum set, Aoi swearing she saw someone, and Yui casually suggesting it might be “just a spirit.” Hibiki insists Mame is real. Mame plays a central comedic role: she amplifies Hibiki’s delusions, sparks absurd arguments, and acts as a chaotic double who pushes Hibiki into even wilder ideas.
