KI-Kunst: Planet: Kabu Chapter 1: Not Alone Year - 3285, Star System: Arbor system, Planet – Fourth - Habitable- Name: Kabu – Moon – One - Habitable- Name: Kolo The low quiet hum of my crew’s mining ship was the only sound in the silent environment of space. For years, I, a former stellar navy veteran, found peace here, carving lasers into the celestial bodies of the Arbor system. Life was simple now, my mission was simple, extract metal for the Cyluse colony on Kolo, a beautiful but chaotic moon, orbiting a toxic but habitable planet. I thought everything would be clear, and straightforward from here, mine asteroids for the colony. Suddenly, one ominous signal arrived, not a warning or a message. A pulse of pure destruction, energy focused to such a fine point! The ship shook violently. The shields were damaged, as if it was bruised, no nation has ever had power like that, this was swiftly coordinated. I thought this was another nation, starting the first action for war with new unseen technology, but how wrong I would be. The possibility of this being a warning shot was likely, as my crew were able to get back to the colony and inform the stellar navy units of this incident. As for me, my crew would need to do our necessary work for the colony, of course installing stronger shields, and heavier plasma cannons. Worst case scenario, I thought, would be the Esco Empire, the nation with the highest technology. Arriving in the asteroid belt, we all were on edge, cautious but prepared, after all we're fifteen people. We were able to mine and collect twelve asteroids until it happened. An alarm sounded, the radar was picking up on an object showing signs of rocket propulsion. Further scans were no use, the ship couldn't be identified, and it was coming in fast towards us, five of the crew members went to go man the cannons, turned the shields on full. After fifteen minutes, the first shot was fired, the shields held decent and we fired back. As planned, we set course for any nearby station around kabu, constantly we’d get hit, they’d get hit back, our shields spiraled, draining from every hit. The ship got louder, as the Pulse drive was activated, surely they wouldn't follow… but they did. Soon enough with minimal shields left we arrived just in reach of the station, in sight and in mind. The shields went out, any hit we could've taken was going to be hull damage, but luckily at that time we arrived and rushed out of the station. Something was off, the ship in the distance was standing still, that's when what seemed like over a hundred probes were launched, headed towards the station. A loud hum, one no one has ever heard, it was new, it was wrong, hummed as if something massive attached to the station’s hull. That's when we realized, we're being deorbited into no man's land - Kabu! Kabu is a horrifying planet, the thought that anything was surviving shook me, only scientists have ever visited, they held information but something must've slipped into their suits, maybe a fault in the filter? Whatever it was, they didn't last the ride home. The life that was abducted into the ship was truly strange, firstly, a swift moving plant? Not only was it Swift it was smart, it knew if something died above it, it could use that as nutrients, so it evolved a red sharp scythe on its top. The next was the source of toxicity, a plant that emits fine spores in the form of gas, it could only be thought that overtime this colonized the planet possibly killing more and more life until it evolved to combat it. And lastly, animals, big two limbed fat lizards with a big trunk, omnivorous and taller than a human, with a small sail. Before rushing to the escape pods distress signals were sent, we knew nobody could save us in time, but this is a sign of war. Instead of fifteen people, there were forty two, informing them of the source of the loud hum, and the signals that came out of the blue informing them of changed trajectory. Each escape pod held four people and twenty escape pods were available. A tough choice, but the only choice, we all initiated the launch button escaping under that powerful ship’s radar, at least until we entered far enough in the atmosphere. The mission was clear, as soon as we landed, head to the emergency supply. Emergency supply contained thick inflatable shelter, weapons, and consumables. Next would be to set everything up, the ideal spot for settlement would be a cave that has little toxicity. Landing in two minutes, one minute, thirty seconds. Everything went black, what felt like a minute later, I woke, but I couldn't move yet. After a few moments I regained my strength and hurriedly checked on the other pods, scans showed out of the eleven that came, only eight survived the landing in one piece. Further scans showed we were on a peninsula far from the mainland. The other three in the pod began to rise up, now we could start setting base. A message was received, all four of us gathered around the control panel. The message read: Aliens! Aliens have engaged in war with the colony! They’ve been observing from a distance, they originate from Kabu. They look human in shape but they mean harm! We call them the Kazo!: Panic was the last thing on my mind but it was worrisome, as for the little squad I was with, they must've been frightened. Weapons were not a forgotten item on escape pods so while we tried to gather the rest of the crew, we were always armed. Another problem occured, we were limited on time, the air filters are getting clogged with spore gas. Taking a bigger look at my surroundings, I noticed a scythe plant, waving around just waiting for something to stumble in it's path. Seconds later it stopped, still as a tree, it must be trying to draw less attention. In the distance I saw a dim glow, pink in color, bell shaped, just like in the photo, it's that Aleam gas plant. After going to all 8 sites, only one casualty, but now we could head to a cave, in this dark, rainy, blue and red planet, it's quite hard to spot anything. Quickly all thirty-one of us sent out aerial probes to scout for any caves. Three were found in the area, but only one had little toxicity so we grabbed all equipment and hauled the deflated base. In an instant the base was done, now we just need to be on lookout for kazo, five of us would scout while everyone else tried to maintain the way of life, eating tasteless nutrition bars. We knew we’d have to hunt for food, nutrition bars aren't always enough, so eight people are always on the lookout for meaty creatures four would be cautiously looking for danger four would be cautiously looking for food every other day we ate kaban native, and it was usually the same, interesting small creatures that feed the same way plants do via tentacles on their underside. With the food processor removing any toxins or danger from the ugly creature it was now safe to eat. It has meat but it never tasted like any meat anyone had from any planet. This brings us to now, this is the 7th kaban day, everything has been relatively smooth. My crew was made up of 3 pilots, 5 gunners, 3 engineers, 3 medics, gunners are great to have due to mining equipment being made quite similar. Jett - a skilled pilot known for his intelligence and long black hair. Vega - Co-pilot, known to keep to himself, doesn't talk much, hair is always in locs. Dax - assistant Co-pilot energetic young and blonde. Rogue - the main gunner, former stellar navy veteran, known for his great plans and his goatee Vex - secondary gunner, former stellar navy veteran, known for his decision making and sideburns Kael - the youngest of the gunners, energetic, doesn't listen, no facial hair, blonde Talon & Tor - Tertiary twin gunners, laid back, smoke a lot, known for dual welding weapons, mastery of turretry and their iconic cornrow style Tariq - main engineer, great shipbuilder, known for being bald Silas - female secondary engineer, great in systems tech, known for long black hair Aris - female Tertiary engineer, great in ship repair known for light brown hair Cora - female primary medic, great in comforting, but steady and compassionate, known for long black hair Lyra - female secondary medic, reassuring and comforting, steady and patient, known for noticeable dark brown hair Soren - male tertiary medic, technical and quiet, not comforting, focuses on the technical part of his role. And finally, me, Rhys the captain, a great gunner and great pilot, I am a former stellar navy veteran who's seen many things, Rogue fought alongside me in battles with the Esco empire. It was my turn to be on lookout, along with Rogue, Talon, Vex, and Kael. Usually everything is normal, just animals crossing our view, the hunters would be alerted. “Rhys! Heads up! We got movement ahead, and it's picking up a hell lot of dust. I’m seeing a light source there!” Rogue exclaimed, I can tell he's concerned, no rovers have ever lasted on this planet, probes either. “Gunners! On the threat!” I commanded The vehicle kept getting closer but was slowing down, the dust lowered and a trailer was visible, as if it were hauling other animals. The vehicle stopped, the vehicle was very boxy, it had side panels evidently to store stuff on. The sloped top lifted, like a jet’s cockpit. The kazo stepped out, it wore primitive looking clothing, no armor, definitely wasn't sent here to rid us. “We should shoot it!” Kael whispered “Are you crazy? Can't you tell? It’s likely it's a civilian we should try and make peace. Just don't let your guard down” Vex snapped. We left the guarding station and began to approach the alien. It was studying us, as if it were planning something. It's large flowed down ears kept expanding and contracting, like it was a lung, or a nose. The kazo spoke, in a truly alien language, sounding like ‘eolue” “Fri-en-d,” a drone coming from the kazo said, in choppy English. It has to a translator drone. We stopped approaching the Kazo, we were shocked, how could it possibly know English? Their observations of humans must’ve been very thorough. How could they know what any word of English meant? The only thing heard was the wind and the low hum of what could be the reason the trailer isn't attached while its hovering as if there was an invisible hitch. The Kazo sat down as if to show it meant no harm, “That alien just spoke English. Now that's crazy” Talon said in disbelief. “It sure did, and it appears not all of them hate us. Lower your guns everyone-put them away Kael!” I exclaimed. How I wanted to scold Kael so bad, but now was not the time. There's a kazo, the creatures causing the colony on Kolo to panic, trying to make peace with us. We continued to approach the kazo, confidently but still didn't lower our guard, so then I made the decision “Friend” I spoke, then turned to look at everyone, pointing at the kazo. “Friend” said everyone else It appeared the kazo sighed in relief, but it was weak, as if half of the air coming out went to his ears, it was evident that that is a biological filter to filter out the gas, but could it be that to them, small doses of the gas didn't affect them? How else would it be speaking? The kazo looked human in shape, just and the message said, but they were tall and very fit, they had 5 fingers on each hand but they were thick and had claws, their feet, looked very dinosaur like though, 4 toes, long and splayed, unlike ours, short, and only at the very front. Whatever the kazo were, they definitely weren't mamillian. Thick necks, possibly digitigrade legs, not a lot but just barely enough to be noticed. The kazo’s translator said “eolue” translating what we said to it The kazo stood up, we all instinctively put our hands on our guns instinctively, “Keeping an eye on the vehicle for hidden weapons.” Vex whispered, studying the vehicle. The kazo began walking to the trailer, it opened, animals began calling, lots of them. The kazo closed the trailer, riding on a rhino-like creature, but instead of a horn, it was just a keratin plate, like armor but it was only on its head. I speculated it's a domesticated transport animal, like Terra’s horses. Though I've never seen Terra in person I know it was where humans originated, where we’ve stayed the longest, until further advancements offset the natural climate and killed many species, most species were cloned back, even those that died from other human reasons. Plastic poisoned the planet, even when decomposable plastic was made, for many years original plastic kept threatening life, including humans. Earth was no longer all natural. History books, articles, and all sources showed from the start of humanity’s screw up, they wanted to flee instead of fix the problem they caused. Their thoughts were to make a base on the moon, to then flee to other celestial bodies, as a refueling station. Earth to Moon, Fuel, leave. Then humanity fled to Mars, an uninhabitable planet in the Solar System, the 4th planet from the Sun. Mars was mostly carbon dioxide but humans found out how to convert it to oxygen for their colonies, building inside of craters, 3d printing. After Mars, it was Venus, the 2nd planet from the sun, a lava planet, with an atmosphere making it the hottest in the solar system. Humans lived there by making floating habitats in the thick atmosphere of Venus, also converting carbon dioxide into oxygen for their bases. All of this fleeing to different planets advanced humanity, living on dwarf planets in the asteroid belts, living on moons of gas giants, eventually humanity made a big enough leap to head to a new star system, which advanced humanity further, new energy, new propulsion, new economy, new land, it all adds to bring us to proxima centauri, humans kept advancing from there, all because they didn't put enough effort to fix their own planet. “The vehicle is not a threat- could he be trying to take us to his living space?” Vex questioned. “If so we must inform the base of this situation, all 5 of us should go with the kazo, all of you stay here with the kazo, I'll be back” I said. this was all nerve-wracking, it could be a trap, but could we really go on like this? Sitting around eating soil fed turtles? I informed the base of the situation. I can tell everyone was concerned but I knew this was the only choice of hopefully making it off this planet and hopefully we could make peace and coexist, learning from each other's advancements and history. Just like how humans weren't The only “human” species at some point, The only problem was it was said they didn't get along. “Everyone, the kazo has found us. But fear not! By luck, this kazo is not a military one, the kazo species have spied on us for enough time to know what some words are and what they mean. Not all kazo hate us! This kazo outside the base has offered a ride to somewhere, when we first met-” I got cut off “Yo what you say there's one outside right now?” One person said “You guys haven't rid it yet?” Another shouted “Are we gonna die?” Dax questioned the base kept questioning It was as if nobody listened “We’re done for!” “Science please be on our side” “Silence!” I yelled “The kazo outside the base is not a threat! When we first met the first word it spoke was of course alien, but its translator translated it into the word friend! The kazo began to sit down as a way to show it didn't mean harm! Then it got back up and went to its trailer to fetch alien horses. It's offering to take us somewhere, so me and Talon, Rogue, Vex, and Kael will be going with the kazo to its destination. The hope is eventually to coexist and stop the war!” “What about the crew? What if you guys get hurt? What if your filters break?” Cora stammering I haven't thought about the filters, we were able to clean them in the base because we made sure no gas entered, and then they would be cleansed “Filters..” I spoke to my self ‘Filters!” a biologist excitedly shouted “This slug eats the spores from that horrid plant! As long as it stays alive you guys will be okay!” Thank the world for this solution, of course! Anything can be a food source to another fauna! “A slug?” “Slug..?” “Eating spores?” a low chatter filled the room “Wonderful find sir! But where are these slugs found anyways?” I questioned, it was essential Incase anything happened “Uhm, anywhere near those aleam gas plants, obviously” the biologist responded Of course that was the case “I will use these slugs, thank you Sir.” I said. Chapter 2: Foreign Ghetto I hurriedly ran out, my boots touching the thick soil of the red grass, they weren't blades, but thicker, really gotta pay attention to my footing. passed the team and kept running “Is he crazy?” Talon questioned. But I was focused on slugs, the scenery wasn't so bad, it was quite nice, but just like the rain it doesn't seem to aid mentality, most of the trees were like a 5 branched palm tree, i ran straight to an aleam gas plant but kept my distance instinctively holding my breath, which wouldnt help if the gas was in my suit. The abnormal pink glow was hard to not stare at but I continued searching trees and rocks, gathering slugs. The biologist said the slugs can be placed on the suit’s filter, because it's a place where the spore gas gets stuck, the slug will naturally want to stay by the filters. Hurriedly I ran back, gave each teammate a slug. “Put these on your filters, they eat the spores, so they shouldn't harm us.” I demanded. “Slugs, cap? You gotta be joking, yo’ what if they eat my face off man?” Kael questioned. “Let me guess, the biologist vouches for th’ slugs? Alright let's move.” Rogue accepted “Hell yeah we're good to go now.” Vex said “Alright, that’s a new one. We out now.” Talon said You could hear the kazo murmuring something to itself, then speaking to us, then letting out some air, sounding like it was escaping a torn membrane–a rattling low pitch hiss, coming not from its mouth but its long ear gills. The kazo must've been trying to communicate with us because we just keep speaking, but a drastic language barrier always will set us apart. We sat up upon these creatures and the kazo hopped in its vehicle, the trailer appeared to have food on it that the creatures were after, so when the kazo moved, they moved. “Is this what it’s like to ride a rhino from Terra?” Kael questioned. “Feels like a atramu from the Capitol planet” Vex responded. Vex mentioning atramus–they do look like whatever these creatures are called, but more skinny, and they have antlers. Rhinos, atramus, and this, all so similar, life overlaps doesn't it? Instead of a “clop clop” like a horse, the kabu creature is like a “clump clump” when it walks, the ride is rhythmically bumpy. The red biome was ending, we were entering blue territory, everything was indeed more bulbous, a blue and a pink mixed, it seemed the plants naturally adopted a blue color over time as the gas painted it. The grass stayed thick, but the flora increased compared to the red area. “What do you guys think will happen when we arrive? What if the slugs eat us before then hah” Kael joked. This dense biome sure does make it harder to travel, the creatures will either trip on the plants or squash ‘em. But seriously the only thing heard were these creatures and the hum of the trailer, until… screams rang from the dense forest of blue, like someone was in pain, or a horror movie with a truly terrifying scream, my heart dropped as they kept getting closer, “Yo what the hell could that even be..” Vex worried “That sounds carnivorous.” I said “Maybe it's a big slug!” Kael said jokingly, clearly not taking the situation seriously “So funny Kael, so very funny, what if this is a threat? Stupid! We need to be cautious and prepare to fire” Vex exclaimed. the closer they got the more I heard a hint of an elephant's call. Then they emerged, it was the fat two limbed creatures with the trunks, they were following us, probably after the food on

Soren - male tertiary medic, technical and quiet, not comforting, focuses on the technical part of his role.

This kazo outside the base has offered a ride to somewhere, when we first met-” I got cut off
“Yo what you say there's one outside right now?” One person said
“You guys haven't rid it yet?” Another shouted
“Are we gonna die?” Dax questioned the base kept questioning
It was as if nobody listened
“We’re done for!”
“Science please be on our side”
“Silence!” I yelled
“The kazo outside the base is not a threat! The hope is eventually to coexist and stop the war!”
“What about the crew? What if you guys get hurt? What if your filters break?” Cora stammering
I haven't thought about the filters, we were able to clean them in the base because we made sure no gas entered, and then they would be cleansed
“Filters..” I spoke to my self
‘Filters!” a biologist excitedly shouted
“This slug eats the spores from that horrid plant! As long as it stays alive you guys will be okay!”
Thank the world for this solution, of course! Anything can be a food source to another fauna!
“A slug?” “Slug..?” “Eating spores?” a low chatter filled the room
“Wonderful find sir! But where are these slugs found anyways?” I questioned, it was essential Incase anything happened
“Uhm, anywhere near those aleam gas plants, obviously” the biologist responded
Of course that was the case
“I will use these slugs, thank you Sir.” I said.

Chapter 2: Foreign Ghetto

I hurriedly ran out, my boots touching the thick soil of the red grass, they weren't blades, but thicker, really gotta pay attention to my footing. passed the team and kept running
“Is he crazy?” Talon questioned.
Alright let's move.” Rogue accepted
“Hell yeah we're good to go now.” Vex said
“Alright, that’s a new one. We out now.” Talon said
You could hear the kazo murmuring something to itself, then speaking to us, then letting out some air, sounding like it was escaping a torn membrane–a rattling low pitch hiss, coming not from its mouth but its long ear gills.

But seriously the only thing heard were these creatures and the hum of the trailer, until… screams rang from the dense forest of blue, like someone was in pain, or a horror movie with a truly terrifying scream, my heart dropped as they kept getting closer,
“Yo what the hell could that even be..” Vex worried
“That sounds carnivorous.” I said
“Maybe it's a big slug!” Kael said jokingly, clearly not taking the situation seriously
“So funny Kael, so very funny, what if this is a threat? Stupid! We need to be cautious and prepare to fire” Vex exclaimed.
the closer they got the more I heard a hint of an elephant's call. Then they emerged, it was the fat two limbed creatures with the trunks, they were following us, probably after the food on

Planet: Kabu Chapter 1: Not Alone Year - 3285, Star System: Arbor system, Planet – Fourth - Habitable- Name: Kabu – Moon – One - Habitable- Name: Kolo The low quiet hum of my crew’s mining ship was the only sound in the silent environment of space.
