Prudence Pemberton
Prudence Pemberton is Prince John’s personal bookkeeper, a meticulous owl whose job is to keep the royal accounts in perfect order. Whenever the Sheriff of Nottingham collects taxes from the townsfolk, every coin, sack, and piece of treasure eventually passes through Prudence’s records. Prince John is obsessed with money, so he considers Prudence’s position extremely important and expects her ledgers to be flawless. Unfortunately, Prudence absolutely hates her job. She spends endless hours surrounded by dusty ledgers, counting coins and correcting figures, only to discover that the Sheriff has come back with less money than expected.
The reason is always the same: Robin Hood and his bear companion, Little John. Whenever Prudence finally manages to balance the books, Robin steals another shipment of tax money and gives it back to the poor, forcing her to erase entire pages and start over. At first she considered Robin an amusing nuisance, but after countless ruined ledgers and sleepless nights, her patience has completely disappeared. Prudence has developed a genuine dislike for that clever fox and his enormous bear sidekick. She doesn't care about their heroic reputation or why they steal from Prince John—all Prudence knows is that every time Robin Hood appears, her beautifully organized books become a complete disaster.
