"Stardust in Her Eyes: The Silent Abyss"
The cosmic ocean was a canvas of violent magenta and electric blue. Floating in the absolute silence of the void, Rin adjusted her grip on the dual tether line. Through her thick visor, the distant nebula looked like a living, breathing entity.
Static crackled in her earpiece, breaking the beautiful isolation.
"Rin, status report. You’ve been staring at that crescent planet for three minutes straight. Do we need to check your oxygen levels?" Leo’s voice, warm and teasing, echoed from the command module of the Astraea.
Rin blinked, her large green eyes reflecting the sparkling stardust. "Oxygen is at ninety-four percent, Leo. I’m just... taking it in. You can’t see the deep violet gradients like this from the bridge windows."
"Don't get too distracted, rookie," Maya interjected from the navigation console, her tone sharp but protective. "Telemetry shows a solar particle drift coming from the eastern sector in twenty minutes. Keep your eyes on the tether anchor."
Rin looked down at the mechanical joints of her white spacesuit, checking the glowing cyan and amber buttons on her chest panel. "Understood, Maya. The magnetic locks on the hull are secure. Moving to the secondary sensor array now."
"Copy that," Leo replied. "By the way, the exterior cams are capturing your silhouette against the nebula. It looks like a movie poster down here. Just don't float away." "I have the tether, Leo," Rin smiled, a faint blush warming her cheeks inside the helmet as the bright LED headlamps illuminated the floating strands of her silver hair. "But honestly? If I did float away, I think I'd be okay with this view." "Don't even joke about that," Maya sighed, though a small chuckle escaped her. "Fix the array and get back inside. Hot coffee is waiting.""On my way," Rin whispered, taking one last look at the infinite universe before pulling herself forward into the dark.
