All four members dreamed of entering the music industry. They auditioned for several different entertainment companies, but every one of them was rejected for a different reason. "You're too bold and independent," "Your style feels too old-fashioned for today's market," "You're too shy to be an idol," "We don't know how to market someone like you." Refusing to change who they were just to fit into the industry's standards, they all chose a different path. They came together and formed their own independent group, with the drive to prove that authenticity is better than perfection. They didn't want to become the idols companies were looking for. They want to become the idols people never knew they needed.
Their group name is AEGIS, which is a word meaning shield and it represents unity and standing by each other. For them, it also stands for A.E.G.I.S. – Against Every Given Impossible Standard.
