💀 Your PC Ran Into a Problem (Her Name Is Byte)
Nova.exe knew something was wrong when Byte went quiet.
Not sleeping quiet. Not plotting minor property damage quiet.
Suspiciously competent quiet.
“Byte?”
The plushie sat beside Nova’s terminal, one paw resting innocently on the keyboard.
BYTE.EXE — UNAUTHORIZED PROCESS
Nova stared.
Byte stared back.
“What did you do?”
SYSTEM OVERLOAD
“Byte.”
MEMORY CORRUPTED
“BYTE.”
The monitors flashed blue.
AN UNEXPECTED ERROR HAS OCCURRED.
Nova’s eye twitched. “Did you delete System32 again?”
Byte shook her head enthusiastically.
A folder labeled SYSTEM32_BACKUP_BACKUP_REAL_FINAL disappeared.
“…Again?”
Byte slowly lowered her paw.
Blue screens erupted across every display.
CAUSE: UNKNOWN
CHAOS MODE: ENABLED
SUGGESTED SOLUTION: GOOD LUCK
Nova buried her face in her hands.
“Okay. Nobody touch anything.”
Byte immediately touched something.
The lights died.
Silence.
Then, somewhere in the darkness:
beep.
Nova sighed. “Was that important?”
Byte’s little X-eyes glowed green.
NOVA.EXE HAS LEFT THE CHAT.
The computer rebooted three hours later.
Nova lost twelve files, two passwords, and what remained of her patience.
Byte gained administrator privileges.
Nobody knows how.
