ALIEN SLIME CREATURE
The flashlight beam cut through the toxic murk and found something that should not exist. The creature hung in the poisoned air like a nightmare given flesh—a mass of dripping tendrils and pulsing organs that defied every law of biology the astronaut had ever known. Its eyes caught the light and held it, two chrome-ringed voids filled with a sickly green glow that spoke of intelligence, of patience, of hunger older than human civilization. The bioluminescent lures drifted closer, their neon colors obscenely cheerful against the grotesque bulk of wet, yellow-green flesh. A tendril twitched. Slime pooled and dripped from the gaping mouth-hole, a void so absolute it seemed to swallow light itself. The astronaut understood with cold certainty: this thing had not been discovered. It had been waiting. And now, pinned in that merciless beam, frozen in the moment before everything went wrong, they realized the horrible truth—the flashlight hadn’t found the creature. The creature had found them.
