Rivals Beneath the Cherry Blossoms [Part 4]
After parting from Kazumi, Setsuna watches from a distance as Kazumi and the others continue walking down the cherry blossom path.
Deep down, she was glad to see Kazumi again after so long. But she could not bring herself to show that feeling honestly.
Whenever she sees Kazumi, Setsuna remembers their childhood training days.
She recalls the adults, coaches, friends, and even her own family constantly bringing up Kazumi’s name and comparing the two of them. Those memories rise again inside her like old wounds.
Setsuna knows that Kazumi is not a bad person. She also knows that Kazumi worked harder than anyone to get where she is.
That is why she cannot truly hate Kazumi.
But at the same time, she cannot bring herself to like her either.
To Setsuna, the name “Kazumi” carries a complicated mix of admiration, inferiority, and wounds she does not want to admit.
As cherry blossom petals drift around her, Setsuna silently vows that one day, she will surpass Kazumi.
Still carrying the unresolved knot of emotions in her heart, Setsuna remains lost in thought beneath the spring sky.
