Whispers Beneath the Ancient Canopy
The deeper Lyssara Nocthiel ventured into the Eldergloom Forest, the more unnatural the silence became. Sunlight filtered through the colossal trees in pale golden beams, illuminating forgotten ruins and abandoned belongings left behind by those who had never returned. As her celestial companion Aster prowled cautiously beside her, the High Elf discovered broken wagon wheels, rusted weapons, and trails that ended without explanation. Strange blue wisps drifted among the trees, appearing and vanishing as if guiding her toward something hidden. While examining enormous claw marks carved into ancient trunks, Lyssara noticed a disturbing pattern: every sign pointed toward the ruined heart of the forest. "These are not hunting grounds," she murmured. "Something is gathering prey." Aster suddenly froze, his luminous eyes fixed ahead. Between the fog-shrouded trees, an immense pair of pale eyes stared back from the darkness. Neither beast nor spirit revealed itself, yet its presence could be felt like a weight pressing against the air itself. Lyssara slowly rested her hand upon Eclipsewarden's hilt, her expression remaining calm despite the danger. "You've been watching me since I entered the forest," she said into the silence. For a moment, nothing happened. Then the eyes vanished, followed by the distant sound of branches snapping somewhere deeper within Eldergloom. The creature was retreating—but not out of fear. It was leading her somewhere. As ancient ruins emerged through the mist ahead, Lyssara realized that the missing villagers and the strange lights were connected to a far older secret buried beneath the forest. Unwilling to turn back, she followed the trail into the depths of Eldergloom, unaware that she was approaching the first piece of a mystery that had remained hidden for centuries.
