Ruby LeRoux is a hard-working student at LSU, known for her sharp mind, relentless study habits, and ability to bury herself in textbooks for hours at a time. During the semester, she is focused, disciplined, and determined to succeed, often spending her evenings studying while her friends are out having fun. But when Mardi Gras arrives, Ruby—like the rest of the students—decides that even the hardest-working student deserves a break.
When the parades begin and Bourbon Street comes alive, the books are put away and Ruby lets her hair down. She loves the nightlife, the music, the laughter, the drinks, and the wild, colorful energy of Mardi Gras. Dressed in purple-and-gold and surrounded by layers of colorful beads, Ruby throws herself into the festivities, enjoying every moment of the celebration. By the end of the night, she has somehow acquired an impressive collection of beads—though exactly how she got so many of them, well… Ruby isn't telling.
