Sunrise paints her window gold, mine's still shadowed grey

She wakes up to stories told, I start another day

Of scrubbing floors and folded clothes, dreams on a dusty shelf

While diamond light on her reflects, she never knows herself

Outside this little world I'm in, her perfect picture's clear

She's got the smile, she's got the skin, she has no trace of fear.

'Cause I'm not her, no, not even close, she's everything I'm not

She sips champagne, makes a silent toast, to every dream she's got

She gets the fancy life, the spotlight glow, the world wrapped in a bow

And I get to be like Cinderella, watching the carriages go.

Her closet's full of silk and lace, a hundred different shoes

My uniform, it holds its place, just worn-out blues and hues

She's flying off to distant lands, a new adventure starts

While I'm here with these tired hands, picking up broken parts

They say a fairy tale will come, a magic touch, a chance

But all I hear is ticking drum, no invitation to the dance.

The gossip pages sing her praise, for charity, for grace

While I just walk through endless days, trying to keep my pace

No glass slippers left for me, just shoes worn through the sole

Another chapter, plain to see, beyond my own control

She doesn't know the ache inside, the wishing on a star

While I stand here, with nothing to hide, just who I truly are.

Maybe one day the clock will strike, and something will truly change

Maybe this quiet, lonely night, will rearrange

But for now, I'm just polishing glass, reflecting what I see

A life that isn't built to last, for someone just like me.

She gets the ball, the prince, the charm, the story ends so sweet

I'm just outside, out of the harm, but off my weary feet.

And I get to be like Cinderella, watching the carriages go.Just watching the carriages go...
