Have You Tried Turning It Off and On Again?
Nova.exe leaned her chin on her hand, forcing the most exhausted, customer-service smile humanly possible. "Thank you for calling Nova.exe Tech Support. Have you tried turning it off and on again?"
On the other end of the line, a customer whimpered about a minor browser glitch. Meanwhile, behind Nova’s head, the entire server bank was burning through a catastrophic, neon-red meltdown.
SYSTEM RESTORE: FAILED
BACKUP: CORRUPTED
BYTE.EXE: DETECTED
In the lower right monitor, the culprit herself—a plushie Byte—was actively wielding a spray paint can and joyfully defacing the primary mainframe. A half-finished warning banner flashed across the screen: DO NOT LET HER TOUCH— before Byte spray-painted right over the rest of the sentence.
"Right, sir," Nova continued smoothly, completely ignoring the scent of melting copper and the flashing alarm lights reflected in her eyes. "Your printer isn't responding because you didn't plug it in. No, you don't need a firmware update, you need basic depth perception."
Behind her, Byte plugged a corrupted flash drive directly into the master root directory. Sirens started blaring. The sign on the counter reading "We Fix Computers. Not Your Life Choices" began to vibrate off the desk.
"Anyway," Nova sighed, watching her entire life’s work evaporate into malware smoke on the monitors behind her. "I'm going to have to place you on a brief hold while I manually uninstall a stuffed parasite."
