Her parents were killed by another ability, when she was just a child, but her mother told her quirk to protect her daughter, which left Moon with a spirit which used to be her mothers. The curse she couldn't really control, but it always protected her, even if she didn't know, but when she got to U.A. High she learned to control it perfectly. She now has a spiritual figure that obeys her command, despite her hair getting in the way sometimes, she never cut it after her parents died in front of her, and she swore she would find out who killed them and get revenge, for her parents.
