She often would take time out of the physical training from her uncle to head off and also train under one of the retired court mages for the empire. Though unbeknownst to her, the mentioned mage would attempt to use her to get to her brother, as he was still connected to the current emperor that wanted Kage dead. However she eventually caught on to what the mage was doing, and proceeded to invent her own branch of dark magic, she called it "Void Magic" as it called upon cosmic levels of mana. The only downside to using such power for her though, was that she could only use it once in a year because it used up just that much of her magic reserves. Upon recovery time, she could still of course use her regular magic she always used, but until fully recovered she couldn't use them at the same strength as if she was at full power.
