Folie à Byte: Disjointed & Piggybacked
It all started when Byte decided to overclock Nova.exe's audio drivers while blasting 2008 pop-punk at maximum volume. A sudden bass drop glitched their local environment, warping reality into a flat, crimson dimension.
When the red mist settled, Nova found herself zipped tightly into a giant, stitched-up golden bear suit, complete with fangs framing her face and a "NOVA.exe" patch on her chest. Before she could process the total loss of her dignity, Byte—now back in full plushie cat form with neon-green 'X' eyes—hopped onto her shoulders, triumphantly throwing her paw-paws in the air.
"Byte, get off! I am not your personal transport protocol!" Nova groaned, taking a heavy, clumsy step forward in her oversized bear feet.
"Nonsense!" Byte cheered, her chains clinking merrily against Nova's hood. "We’re living the 2008 emo dream! Besides, I don't care what you think as long as it's about me!"
Nova huffed, adjusting to the extra weight on her neck. "I’m a former syndicate boss, Byte! I used to command respect, not carry a stuffed menace through a red vacuum!"
"They say 'I love you,' but I'm just looking for the exit," Byte sang out tuning-key sharp, completely ignoring Nova’s existential crisis while waving her paws like a rock star. "Face it, Nova! I'm the suit, you're the engine, and together we’re a total shared madness!"
Nova sighed, trudging forward through the crimson void. She’d get them back to their stream room eventually—right after she figured out how to unzip a bear suit with plushie claws.
