The Crypt That Should Have Remained Sealed
As Lyssara Nocthiel crossed the ancient necropolis beneath the Lunar Covenant, an unnatural silence settled over the forgotten city. Towering statues of fallen guardians watched her every step while corrupted spectral sentinels stood motionless among shattered tombs, their crimson eyes following her without striking. "They're waiting," Lyssara whispered, tightening her grip on Eclipsewarden. Beside her, Aster lowered his ears and released a quiet growl. "They do not serve themselves anymore," Seralyth murmured. "They obey whatever stirs beneath the seals." The trio finally reached the colossal moonsteel gates of the Crypt of the Last Oath. Both doors stood partially open, their ancient runes flickering weakly. Lyssara stopped. "These gates have been sealed for a thousand years... someone entered before us." She knelt beside the dust-covered floor, discovering fresh footprints leading into the darkness. "Not ghosts," she said. "Someone alive." Aster suddenly sniffed the air before stepping back uneasily. A cold wind escaped from the crypt, carrying the faint scent of old incense mixed with corruption. Deep inside, slow footsteps echoed through the endless halls before abruptly falling silent. Seralyth's expression darkened. "Only the names of every Lunar Guardian are preserved within these walls. If the traitor's identity still exists anywhere, it is here." Lyssara raised Eclipsewarden, its silver runes illuminating the entrance. "Then we finish what the Covenant could not." Without another word, she stepped across the threshold. Behind her, the massive doors groaned as though preparing to close once more, while somewhere within the endless darkness, an unseen figure quietly waited for her arrival.
