It was a fine evening as Jes was returning home from school. As he walked past an alley, he heard noises that caught his attention. He was about to ignore them, but the sounds were unmistakably familiar—it was his friend, Tom. Without hesitation, Jes rushed to the back of the alley and saw Tom being beaten mercilessly by a group of high schoolers. A quick glance revealed that they were royals. Jes was reluctant to intervene but couldn't bear to see his friend suffer. Steeling himself, he stepped in and punched one of the attackers squarely on the nose. Jes was a well-built high schooler who trained regularly and was skilled in martial arts. The boy he punched, Anton, was the mayor's son. The other two boys quickly picked up Anton and fled the scene. Tom, battered and bruised, was in pain. Jes hurriedly took him to his house. Tom’s mother, Olivia, became tense as she saw her son’s condition. "What happened?" she asked anxiously as she treated Tom’s wounds. "I was coming back from school and decided to stop at the grocery store. I accidentally spilled a drink on a royal's shirt—he turned out to be the mayor's son. He and his friends ganged up on me, but Jes saved me," Tom explained. Olivia panicked. "A royal? We could be in serious trouble if he’s the mayor’s son." Jes tried to calm her. "We settled the issue. There's no need to worry." After Olivia left the room, Tom turned to Jes. "Why did you lie to my mom?" Jes replied, "There's no need to make her more anxious. We just need to lay low until they forget about us." Tom nodded in agreement. Jes wished him a speedy recovery and left. Jes reached his home and took a shower. Afterwards, he started preparing dinner. Living alone in a small villa rented by his uncle Jack, who owned a restaurant in town, Jes had grown self-sufficient. He often helped Jack at the restaurant on weekends. Despite his circumstances, Jes shared a close bond with Jack, who was like a father to him. The next day was Saturday. Jes decided to help his uncle at the restaurant. After a brief conversation with Jack, Jes started serving tables. While serving, he noticed a group of people searching for something outside. Among them was Anton, his face covered in bandages. Jes didn't want to cause a scene in his uncle’s restaurant. Realizing the group would soon come inside, he decided to confront them elsewhere. Jes quickly informed Jack that he had something urgent to handle and stepped outside. He approached Anton and called him out. This time, there were six of them—three from the previous day's altercation and three others in military uniforms. Jes recognized them as militants, the enforcers of the country’s laws. One was a ranked officer in D-Tier, while the other two were unranked. Jes knew he was outmatched. Without hesitation, he ran, the group chasing him through a forest until he reached a mountain. With nowhere left to go, Anton yelled, "Finally, we’ve got you! There’s no escape now. We’ll teach you how to respect royals." Jes realized he had no choice but to fight. His best chance was to take out the weaker ones first. He aimed a punch at Anton, but an unranked officer intercepted him, throwing him aside. Another officer kicked Jes in mid-air. Jes managed to block the kick but was hit by a powerful punch from the ranked officer. The blow sent him flying, and he noticed something strange about the officer’s strength—it was unnaturally powerful. Badly injured, Jes saw a cave and dashed inside. The group searched for him but eventually left, unable to find him. Jes, now lost and disoriented in the cave, wandered aimlessly. Hours passed, and he grew weaker from hunger, thirst, and his injuries. Just as he was about to pass out, Jes stumbled upon a wall that collapsed, revealing a secret tomb. Desperate, he crawled inside and drank from a stream of water flowing down the walls, unaware of the danger it posed. Suddenly, the atmosphere changed. Darkness enveloped him, and the water vanished. He felt a malevolent presence behind him. As he turned, his vision faded, and he realized his head was falling—he had been decapitated. Yet, he didn’t die. He found himself back in the same place. A voice from behind him spoke, "Who do you think you are?" Terrified, Jes turned to see a man with red eyes, draped in a cloak, exuding a sinister aura that pierced into Jes's soul...
