A Smile from the Past
Dakota looks at the past with a strong mix of nostalgia and grief. Not much has changed... And yet, everything has changed. That kid sitting on an old bench by the tractor knew he had it good, he just didn't realize how good until it was too late. Dakota grew up on his family farm with a loving mother, father, and big sister. Farm life wasn't easy- there was a lot of work and there was always something going wrong. Yet, no matter how hard things got, they always had each other to rely on. That was always enough. And then, one day when Dakota was in his senior year of highschool, his mother, father, and sister went into the city to pick up some things for the farm. They never returned. A villain destroyed a section of bridge over a highway during a fight with some Pro Heroes, and Dakota lost absolutely everything. He didn't even speak for weeks. Yet, Dakota isn't a sad person. It took a lot of time and grace, but he manages to stay positive and keep the farm afloat. He knows his parents and his sister would want, more than anything, for him to not just live but enjoy life. Dakota is a kind, gentle, genuine person because he knows he has to really live, for those who can't anymore.
