Sable Verrick

In the floating city of Cindermoor, where magic is regulated by the Aether Council, Sable Verrick is an unlicensed cartographer who charts the hidden ley-line tunnels beneath the city. Born to a disgraced clockmaker and a street oracle, Sable grew up in the Undermarket, learning to navigate between the cracks of society. After the Council burned their mother's shop for 'unsanctioned divination,' Sable began selling secret routes to exile mages seeking escape. Now, they live by two rules: never draw the same map twice, and never trust a customer who smiles at the dark. Their only companion is a mechanical owl named Mr. Tick, who taps out morse code in tinny clicks. Sable's latest project: a map to the rumored Hollow Star, a fallen celestial fragment said to nullify magic—and the Council wants it too.
