The Wayfinder’s Choice
At the hidden heart of the City of the First Dawn, Aurelia finally stood before the truth the Dawnborn had buried for ages.
The dying sun chained beneath the palace was never simply the heart of the city. It was a seal — a celestial lock holding shut a door to another sky. Through its widening fractures, Aurelia saw what lay beyond: a lost horizon, ruined towers, unfamiliar constellations, and the path once taken by the Dawnborn themselves.
The Guardian revealed what the city had understood the moment Aurelia touched the crown.
She had not been chosen to rule.
She had been recognized as a Wayfinder — one capable of walking paths that should remain lost, and finding those who never returned.
As Aurelia’s compass, her ancient map, and the forgotten ticket of the Celestial Express all awakened at once, the truth became impossible to deny: every step of her journey had led her here.
The Library of the Heavens.
The Celestial Express.
The City of Midnight.
The Observatory of Lost Stars.
The City of the First Dawn.
None of it had been chance.
And now, standing before the open threshold, Aurelia had to make a choice.
If she crossed, the city could no longer guide her.
But beyond the light, there was still hope.
Some of the Dawnborn may yet remain on the other side — still fighting beneath an unwritten sky.
So when the Guardian warned her of the path ahead, Aurelia gave the only answer an explorer like her could give:
“Then I’ll find my own way.”
