One day, when she was walking home, she was kidnapped and taken by the rebel group Neverseen as a ransom to get to Sophie Foster. Kiera was chained to walls, and Sophie managed to send a message through her brain to Kiera. Kiera responded with a I'll be fine, focus on someone else, but when she sent it, the rebels in Neverseen had managed to invent a gadget to remove someone's ability. The stabbed Kiera with the gadget, and she could feel her Inflictor ability being pushed out. There was a flaw, so when she lost her Inflictor ability, she managed to manifest a different ability.
