Born during the great eruption season, he grew up navigating treacherous thermal vents and learning to read the moods of the mountain. His glowing green eyes have spotted many intruders, but his sharp tongue often gets him in trouble with the council. Despite his gruff exterior, he keeps a secret collection of polished obsidian shards, each one a memory of a flight saved or a storm survived. Varkath lives alone in a high cliff perch, preferring the company of wind and fire to the politics of the great drake citadels.
