The Wayfinder and the Door Beyond the Sun
Far beneath the Palace of the Sleeping Sun, Aurelia finally discovered the truth hidden at the heart of the City of the First Dawn.
Suspended within an ancient chamber of celestial machinery was a dying sun, its fractured surface bound by colossal chains. At first, Aurelia believed the chains were holding the failing heart of the city together.
She was wrong.
The chains had never been meant to restrain the sun.
They were built to keep a door closed.
Through the widening fractures, Aurelia saw another sky—a distant world of unfamiliar stars, ruined towers, and paths that should never have been connected to her own.
Long ago, the Dawnborn crossed that threshold.
They did not leave in pursuit of power, immortality, or conquest. They crossed into the unknown to contain something that should never have been freed, sealing the gateway behind them and abandoning their magnificent city to silence.
Only one remained.
The Guardian was not their greatest warrior, nor their king. He was simply the one entrusted with an impossible duty: to keep the heart beating, to prevent the door from opening, and to wait for someone the city itself would recognize.
When Aurelia touched the crown, the ancient city awakened.
It had not chosen her to rule.
It had recognized her as a Wayfinder—one capable of walking paths that should remain lost and finding those who never returned.
And the Dawnborn may not all be gone.
Some are still fighting beyond the light.
The heart of the city can be saved. The gateway can still be crossed. But uncovering the fate of the Dawnborn will require Aurelia to follow the same path from which no one has ever returned.
Now the choice belongs to her.
Will the explorer who spent her life searching for forgotten worlds finally step through a door that was never meant to open?
