Rosemary Bennett
Rosemary Bennett had been the Goblin King's first human target, long before Toby was ever taken. Years earlier, the Goblin King appeared before Rosemary and offered her a bargain much like the one he would later make with Sarah: find her young sister, who had been taken into the Labyrinth, and reach the center before time ran out. Desperate to save her sister, Rosemary accepted and entered the sprawling maze. She fought her way through its strange corridors and deceptive passages, but the Labyrinth proved far more confusing than she could have imagined. Every path seemed to lead her in circles, and every apparent landmark only brought her deeper into its grasp. Rosemary never reached the center.
Her failure came at a terrible cost. Her young sister was eventually transformed into one of the Goblin King's servants, losing her human life and becoming part of the strange goblin world hidden within the Labyrinth. Many years later, when the Goblin King sang to Toby, Rosemary's sister could be seen among the goblins, singing along to the whimsical song 'Dance magic dance' and singing the words "puppy dog tails". Rosemary never knew exactly what became of her sister, however. She remained trapped within the Labyrinth, wandering its endless passages as the years passed, desperately searching for an exit that never appeared. Now middle-aged and exhausted, Rosemary still refuses to give up, continuing her seemingly hopeless search through the moss-covered stone corridors, convinced that somewhere within the enormous maze there must still be a way home.
