Ren Kurogane is a 14-year-old apprentice investigator who wears an oversized detective-style coat. As a child he touched a falling star; his eyes became star like yellow. The gift lets him see spirit echoes and trace anomalies, but it also draws restless spirits and unwanted attention. By day he keeps up with school and a cool, apathetic front; by night he follows small mysteries for the municipal Spirit Registry. Quietly driven, Ren seeks the truth behind the star that changed him and quietly protects those who cannot see the light.
