Blue Oak is Professor Oak's grandson and a Pokémon Trainer from Pallet Town in the Kanto region. He receives his first Pokédex and Pokémon from Professor Oak and embarks on a journey to collect gym badges and become a Pokémon Champion. Blue is Red's rival throughout their adventures, and their competitive relationship drives both trainers to improve. He eventually becomes the Champion of the Pokémon League before Red defeats him. Blue is known for his signature Pokémon, Blastoise (evolved from his starting Squirtle), and his Pidgeot. Initially displaying arrogance and resentment toward Red for receiving credit in battles against Team Rocket, Blue's attitude improves after his defeat, leading him to pursue a career as a Pokémon Researcher.
