Reimu Hakurei is the main protagonist of the Touhou Project series. As the miko (shrine maiden) of the Hakurei Shrine in Gensokyo, a sealed land of humans and yōkai, she is tasked with investigating and resolving supernatural incidents caused by yōkai whims or other disturbances. Often joined by Marisa Kirisame, Reimu appears in nearly every game, using her spiritual powers to exterminate threats and restore balance. She is the sole maiden of the shrine and a central figure in maintaining Gensokyo's barrier.[1][2]
