Kira Yamato is the protagonist of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, a super coordinator created by Dr. Yuren Hibiki. Initially a student at the technical college in Heliopolis, he becomes the pilot of the Strike Gundam during a ZAFT attack. Demonstrating extraordinary abilities, he rebuilds the mobile suit's OS mid-battle and awakens his SEED mode to protect the Archangel and its crew. Despite hating conflict, his immense piloting skills and sense of responsibility lead him to fight against ZAFT. Kind and naive, he reconciles with former enemies like Athrun Zala and forms deep bonds, including eternal love with Lacus Clyne. He continues as a key figure in Gundam SEED Freedom, piloting upgraded mecha amid psychological challenges.
