Asa Mitaka is the main protagonist of Chainsaw Man's Academy Saga. She is a high school student who accidentally killed her class's chicken devil pet, Kokopi, leading to trauma. After being killed by a classmate and revived by the War Devil, Yoru, who inhabits her body, Asa shares her brain with Yoru. They form the War Devil hybrid. Asa joins the Chainsaw Church and works as a private Devil Hunter, earning money from hunts, TV appearances, and church support. She is intelligent, able to memorize books, but timid, though capable of bold actions that surprise even Yoru. She struggles with social isolation and desires genuine friendships, like with Yuuko, which ends tragically.
