Over centuries of imprisonment, he suffered from erosion—a natural decay imposed by the Heavenly Principles—which gradually stripped away his memories, power, and sanity. Despite Morax's attempts to halt the erosion by sharing his divine power, the process proved unstoppable. Azhdaha eventually lost control of himself and turned hostile, attacking humanity indiscriminately despite their long history of coexistence. He now serves as a weekly boss challenge in Mt. Hulao, where players can defeat him to obtain materials like the Dragon Lord's Crown. His transformation from a benevolent guardian to a corrupted beast represents one of the most tragic cases of erosion in Genshin Impact's lore.
