Butterfree is a dual-type Bug/Flying Pokémon that evolves from Metapod at level 10, the final evolution of Caterpie. Resembling a purple butterfly with light blue legs, red compound eyes, and white wings marked by black venation, it has poisonous scales on its wings that cause status conditions if inhaled and repel water for flight in rain. Using sensitive antennae, it detects blooming flowers up to six miles away to gather nectar with leg hairs. It protects Caterpie from birds using its powder. A Gigantamax form exists, and females have distinct black wing scales.
