Sakuya Izayoi is the head maid of the Scarlet Devil Mansion in the Touhou Project series, serving as the devoted personal attendant to vampire mistress Remilia Scarlet. She is a poised young woman with short silver hair and blue eyes, known for her impeccable composure and refined manners. Sakuya possesses the extraordinary ability to manipulate time, allowing her to stop, slow, or accelerate it, as well as manipulate space to some extent. She is also exceptionally skilled at throwing knives with lethal precision. Her character is defined by absolute loyalty to Remilia and her role as the mansion's strongest defense against intruders. While she maintains a polite and formal demeanor with proper etiquette, she adopts a noticeably colder attitude toward outsiders and treats perceived threats with ruthless efficiency. Sakuya first appeared as a secondary antagonist in Embodiment of Scarlet Devil but later befriended the protagonists and took on heroic roles throughout the series. Her time-manipulation abilities were inspired by DIO from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, a series that creator ZUN admires.
