Rintaro Okabe is the main protagonist of Steins;Gate, a first-year student at Tokyo Electric University and self-proclaimed mad scientist leading the Future Gadget Laboratory. He adopts a dramatic, superior persona, speaking into his phone to imaginary contacts and giving nicknames to everyone except childhood friend Mayuri Shiina, whom he calls 'Mayushi'.
